Assemblyman Joseph Angelino (R,C-Norwich), a former Marine and member of the Assembly  Veterans’ Affairs Committee reacted to the announcement that the Veterans Emergency Housing Assistance Fund has been launched. This fund provides support to veterans who are facing emergency housing needs. Eligible veterans can receive up to $2,000 to help cover housing costs. Eligible housing needs include emergency financial assistance for veterans whose homes have been severely damaged in fires or natural disasters, renovations to make a veteran’s home accessible due to disability, temporary shelter for veterans who have suddenly lost access to their homes or whose homes have become uninhabitable, replacement or repair of essential home appliances, covering missed rent, utilities or property tax payments due to illness or emergency and any other payments deemed necessary by the commissioner.             “We owe our veterans a debt we can never truly repay but making these funds available is the least we can do. No veteran should ever be homeless or be in danger of becoming homeless, that is why I am absolutely thrilled these funds are being made available. What this does is reaffirm we will always stand with our veterans.
