DeStefano Calls for Increased Local Road Upkeep Funding

Assemblyman Joe DeStefano (R,C-Medford) is calling on the governor to consider doling out an additional $200 million for local road maintenance and an extra $70 million for Extreme Winter Recovery funds in this year’s budget. Local roads are often left unkempt for years because local municipalities have little support. DeStefano believes the state can do more to help.

“Taxpayers use roads every day of the week throughout the entire year, with no breaks, and yet our local roads continue to see little maintenance,” DeStefano said. “I believe we can look to allocate more money to the upkeep of our local roads in the state budget. These roads are vital to our communities, and we need to help keep them safe and complete.”
