Mikulin Says Public Safety Should be Priority
A Statement from Assemblyman John Mikulin (R, C, I-Bethpage)
“This week, I was proud to attend a press conference with my colleagues in Albany addressing the need to repeal bail reform in the State of New York. The danger that cashless bail presents to every New Yorker is clear, and there are no words to describe the frustration that comes with learning the state hid statistics showing how dangerous these so-called ‘reforms’ truly were until recently. We now know that 50 percent of those who got arrested since the enactment of the reform circled through the revolving door of committing more crimes and getting arrested again. Public safety should be the priority of every lawmaker, and it is time for this law to be repealed and to give judges the discretion in setting bail to protect the people of New York.”
