Mikulin: Local Roads are Essential!
A Statement from Assemblyman John Mikulin (R,C-Bethpage)
“While the governor proposes to force new housing into suburban Long Island, she’s not proposing to do anything to increase funding to maintain or improve our local roads and infrastructure. Everyone knows how greatly in need we are of funding to fix potholes, expand lanes and ensure motorist safety. Adding to our population and increasing traffic is only going to further exacerbate traffic and safety concerns as well as the wear and tear on our roads and infrastructure. We need a funding increase for programs like the Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program, as well as BRIDGE-NY and PAVE-NY and other budgetary programs that help Long Island communities recover from extreme winters and flooding. This budget must be realistic and fair, and I’m working hard to make sure Long Island gets its fair share.”
