“In Albany, you must take the victories where you can and it is certainly a small but resounding victory that the Assembly One-House Budget Proposal rejects Gov. Hochul’s disastrous housing plan. Her plan was a war on suburbs, and particularly unwelcome on Long Island. It is a victory for all the constituents who have shared their concerns and worked with my office and my likeminded colleagues. Together, we have sent the message and Albany has heard us. We must continue working to ensure the final agreement rejects this plan, and hopefully to encourage leaders to include a fix for the broken bail reforms that have endangered our communities for too long. This budget is about affordability, safety and protecting our quality of life. I’m continuing to share that message in Albany, and together I hope we can pass a final budget agreement that accomplishes those goals.”
