Mikulin On ‘Tax Freedom’ Day
A statement from Assemblyman John Mikulin (R,C,I,Ref-Bethpage)
“I came to Albany to represent the concerns of our residents, not the least of which is the oppressive tax climate in Nassau County and the rest of the state. Today is Tax Freedom Day in New York state, meaning that our residents have finally earned enough to pay their astronomically high tax bills. Our residents should not have to work nearly half the year just to cover taxes. Their hard-earned paychecks are better used purchasing a home, putting food on the table or saving for a college education.
“Tax Freedom Day was almost a month ago for most states – a clear representation of the fact that our tax climate is one of the very worst in the nation. It is my goal to work with my Assembly Minority Conference colleagues to drive policy that will end Albany’s overspending on the backs of our residents. We must put an end to this state’s tax-and-spend ways.”
