Lemondes Comments on Micron Town Meetings in Onondaga County

Assemblyman John Lemondes (R,C-LaFayette) recently spoke about two upcoming town hall meetings to discuss the impact of Micron Technology’s plan to build a new computer chip plant in Onondaga County. Last year, Micron announced its plan to build the nation’s largest computer memory chip plant in Clay. The company says it plans to spend up to $100 billion to build this mega-complex, the largest single private investment in New York history.

Later today, the Cicero Town Board will hold an informal session on the effects of this new plant. That meeting will start at 3 p.m. in the town hall at 8236 Brewerton Road. The Clay Town and Planning Boards will hold the first public hearing on the issue tomorrow, September 27. This hearing is from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Liverpool High School auditorium at 4338 Wetzel Road, Liverpool. Lemondes hopes these hearings will give the community an opportunity to hear about the benefits of this new economic development project.

“Micron’s decision to build a plant of this magnitude in Onondaga County provides an excellent opportunity for growth in our community,” said Lemondes. “I hope everyone will come out to these town meetings to hear about the impact this new plant will have on our local economy and the benefits it will provide.”
