Lemondes to Host Blood Drive June 16
Assemblyman John Lemondes (R,C,I-Lafayette) is hosting a blood drive at the Finger Lakes Mall this Wednesday, June 16, in an effort to support blood banks that are short on supply. New York has historically struggled to maintain sustainable blood donation rates, but the COVID-19 pandemic drove donations lower than they had ever been in the state. Lemondes hopes this blood drive will be the start of a return to normalcy for blood donations in Central New York
“The pandemic, understandably, required us all to take precautions and hold out on mass donations for a time,” Lemondes said. “With life returning to normal, regular people can once again contribute to a cause that may very well save hundreds, if not thousands, of lives. The professionals at the Red Cross are here to support us as we make these donations, and I couldn’t be more proud to partner with them for this initiative.”
The Blood Drive will be held in the Community Room near JC Penny, 1579 Clark Street Rd, Auburn, NY 13021. Those interested in participating are asked to call the Red Cross at 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2676) or visit RedCrossBlood.org and enter: lemondes to schedule an appointment.
Amazon is also participating in the blood drive, by offering a $5 gift card to anyone who donates blood. “We’re grateful Amazon is coming out of the gate with support for Central New York and the communities that make it up,” Lemondes said.
