Salka Sounds The Alarm On Devastating Firearm Restrictions

Assemblyman John Salka (R,C,I,Ref-Brookfield) joined Sen. Joe Griffo (R,C,I-Rome),Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente, and fellow Assembly members Marianne Buttenschon (D-Utica/Rome), Brian Miller (R,C,I-New Hartford) and Robert Smullen (R,C,I,SAM-Meco) to rally against newly-enacted firearm restricting legislation. Also in attendance were Madison County Sherriff Todd Hood and Oneida County Sherriff Robert Maciol.

This newly-enacted legislation adds multiple burdensome steps and strenuous training requirements for a concealed-carry permit to be granted. The legislation also makes unrealistic restrictions on where an individual can carry their firearm.

“This law directly contradicts the recent Supreme Court decision; in fact, the Assembly Majority made this decision without any input from law enforcement, district attorneys, or good-government groups,” said Salka. “This is dangerous. This is another example of Gov. Hochul pandering to the extreme left in an effort to get elected. It’s disgraceful.”
