Assemblymembers McDonald and Rosenthal Welcome Delegates from Berlin
Albany, N.Y. – Assemblymembers John T. McDonald III and Linda B. Rosenthal had the privilege of welcoming delegates from Germany to the State Capitol. The delegates were visiting Albany as part of a program with the International Center of the Capital Region. The goal of the program is to allow participants to gain a basic understanding of the legal frameworks and institutional architectures of consumer protection currently in place in the United States. They examined the reality of American consumer rights related to food safety, export regulations, and health standards.
During their visit to the State Capitol, the group discussed state government’s role on regulations governing American consumer protection standards and U.S. agricultural and food safety, specifically, as it relates to Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) and current legislation in New York related to GMO labeling.
