Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Project Grants
Governor Cuomo recently announced nearly $44 million in grants to support essential drinking water and wastewater infrastructure projects in the Capital Region.
These grants are part of a $255 million statewide investment, funded through New York's Water Infrastructure Improvement Act, as well as the new Intermunicipal Water Infrastructure Grants Program.
Assemblyman Otis of Rye and I helped initiate the new municipal grant program in 2015. As we both know from our years as Mayors, the need to invest in clean drinking water and sewage treatment results in significant challenges for municipalities that are unable to fund overall costs of these projects.
Congratulations to the grant winners in the 108th District; Albany Municipal Water Authority, Rensselaer County Sewer District, City of Rensselaer and the Town of Waterford.
This public investment will spur $175 million of sorely needed work and great over 2800 jobs during the projects lifetimes.
