Assemblyman Joe Giglio (R,C,I-Gowanda) today announced that the New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators is now accepting applications for Italian-American scholarships to be awarded during their annual weekend conference in June.

This year, four $1,500 scholarships will be awarded to current or future New York state college students. Two scholarships will be awarded for academic achievement and two for athletic achievement.

“I encourage all interested students to apply for this scholarship and demonstrate not only their academic skills, but also their involvement in extracurricular activities ,” said Giglio. “I look forward to meeting the recipients of these awards and I know the Southern Tier and Western New York will be well represented in this competition.”

Applications to be considered for the fall academic year must be received by April 15. Students will be evaluated based on grade point average, sports achievement, level of community involvement and financial need.
