Giglio Announces Correction Officer Recruitment Exam
Application filing deadline is February 25, 2013
Assemblyman Joe Giglio (R,I,C-Gowanda) announced today that the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) will be holding an exam for their latest officer recruitment effort. A civil service examination will be held for the position of correction officer trainee in April, but the filing deadline for this examination is February 25, 2013. The test will be held on April 13, 2013.
“As a former law enforcement officer, I know firsthand that a career in law enforcement and correctional services can be fulfilling,” said Giglio. “As a correction officer, you are given a chance to serve your community while being compensated at a competitive salary. I encourage qualifying residents to apply as soon as possible before next month’s deadline.”
To qualify you must be 21 years or older, a U.S. citizen, resident of New York, and possess a high school diploma or GED. Appointees must also have passed medical and psychological screenings, as well as a background investigation. A felony conviction automatically disqualifies anyone from eligibility, while misdemeanor convictions are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
