Assemblyman Josh Jensen (R,C,I-Greece) joined members of the Assembly Minority Conference to introduce a package of anti-crime bills to “Restore Order” to New York state following a surge of violence. Jensen’s bill, which would make it a Class B violent felony to fire into a crowded space with the intent to harm (A.4259), is featured on the agenda. Law enforcement officials and family members of crime victims shared their stories.

“The immeasurable suffering faced by the family members and survivors of violent crimes is heartbreaking. No parent should have to feel the loss they have,” said Jensen. “Recent reforms have and will make it easier for felons who committed violent and vicious crimes to be back on the streets sooner. As a father, I want to feel at ease whenever my children leave the house. Families, like mine, across our community shouldn’t have to live in fear for their lives every time they walk out the door, as many parents currently feel each day,” continued Jensen. “The “Restore Order” package is a step in the right direction to combating the drastic increase of crime in our neighborhoods and across our state.”
