Brown Grants Brentwood Library New "Makerspace"
Assemblyman Keith Brown (R,C-Northport) recently awarded the Brentwood Library a bullet aid grant to build a new “Makerspace” room. These types of creative spaces are becoming more popular as public libraries reimagine their place in modern society by offering high-tech, 3-D printers, sewing machines and crafts, power tools, computers and other modern amenities to the public for use.
“I am so proud to offer this funding to help the public, and particularly children expand their exploration of science, technology, engineering and math,” said Brown. “STEM is a critical path for our future and libraries are the gateway for exploration. It’s a natural fit.”
"We would like to thank Assemblyman Brown for his support of public libraries, particularly our library here in Brentwood," said Thomas Tarantowicz, Library Director."We know this space will encourage more patron use of the library and help develop the imaginations, creativity and love of learning for teens and adults throughout the community."
Thanks to the grant, construction on the space has just been completed and the room should be open to the public soon. For more information, please contact the Brentwood Library at https://brentwoodnylibrary.org/.
