Brown: Long Island Schools Will Suffer If ‘Hold Harmless’ Provision Is Revoked from Foundation Aid
A Statement from Assemblyman Keith Brown (R,C-Northport)
“Revoking the ‘hold harmless’ provision from Foundation Aid for our schools across the state would be a monumental mistake. This proposal would force many school districts to make difficult and rushed decisions surrounding budget adjustments to compensate for a Foundation Aid reduction. This could lead to staffing cuts, changes in school programming, larger and less manageable class sizes, the list goes on, but most importantly, it would leave a glaringly negative impact on our students in its wake.
We need to maintain the ‘hold harmless’ provision of Foundation Aid that so many schools have depended on. Our children need to be put first, and as a concerned and determined father, I will fight to ensure my children and others receive the education they deserve. A solid education is built from a solid foundation, and without proper funding, our school districts cannot deliver.”
