Summer is finally here, and with it comes a slew of outdoor activities across our district. Up here in the North Country and the Mohawk Valley, our counties dotted with small villages are distinctly different from the rest of the state. From fantastic farmers markets to one of a kind county fairs, this summer is packed with events that everyone in the district should take advantage of!
Starting in St. Lawrence County, there are plenty of activities planned over the next few months you are going to want to jump on! Most notably is the St. Lawrence County Fair in Gouverneur! From July 30 to August 4, come to enjoy live music performed by David Lee Murphy as well as the country duo “Locash”. General admission to the fair will cost $50, so make sure you get a ticket! This is not an event that you will want to miss!
In Lewis County, come enjoy the yearly Lewis County Fair in Lowville! Starting on July 16 at 6:30 with the Lewis County Fair Parade, prepare for four days of festivities ending on July 20. First constructed in 1876, the Lewis County Fair has been a staple of the communities of Lewis County. Drawing New Yorkers from across the state, this event is for more than just the people of Lewis County. Come enjoy food, drinks, and the company of so many friends at the 148th year of this historical fair!
In Jefferson County, take advantage of the Jefferson County Fair in Watertown! From July 9 to the 14th, the Jefferson County fair will be jam packed with so many different events that will fit anyone's interests! From multiple different animal shows to a demolition derby, there is something for anyone to enjoy at the Jefferson County Fair! General admission to the fair is completely free so definitely stop by and check it out!
Last but certainly not least, Oneida County has plenty to do during the summer months. Come to Boonville for the annual Boonville-Oneida County Fair! Starting on July 23, join the town of Boonville in their celebration including events such as a tractor pull, wagon rides, fireworks, live music and much more! On July 27, come out and see Cooper Alan perform with guest star Tom Nitti. Ending on July 28, this fair is one you will be sorry to miss!
Across all the counties in District 117, there are plenty of activities everyone can enjoy! Between Oneida, Jefferson, St. Lawrence and Lewis counties, we live in one of the most beautiful areas of this state. With multiple fairs, markets and events, let's take advantage of what we have and enjoy this summer!
