Blankenbush Calls For Transparency In Regents Selection
Statement from Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush (R,C,I-Black River) on the Board of Regents Elections
March 11, 2014
“I call on my legislative colleagues to change the way we select our Board of Regents representatives. Citizens want more openness from their government and, now more than ever, we need complete transparency in electing New York State’s Board of Regents.
“Legislators and the public must know who the nominees are well in advance of the vote. Yesterday, nominees were still being screened, which left little time for the public to give their input. Constantly, from this to even Common Core, the public has been shut out on important discussions and decision processes regarding our public education system.
“It’s time for change and transparency in all parts of government, especially when it comes to our educational system.”
