Blankenbush Welcomes Ft. Drum Youth Of The Year
Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush (R,C,I-Black River) recently welcomed Ft. Drum Youth Services’ Youth of the Year Antonio Bell, Jr. to the state Capitol.
“Antonio Bell, Jr. is a stand out young man in our Ft. Drum community. He is an exemplary student who actively gives back to his community, and I look forward to what he will accomplish throughout his life,” said Blankenbush. “He is focused and knows when to step in to help his family and community. I know his drive and ambition coupled with compassion will take him far in life.”
Bell is an honor roll student in the top quarter of his class who is interested in pursuing studies in business. He is an avid athlete, participating in tennis and indoor track. Bell values the lessons and opportunities for growth at the Ft. Drum Youth Center, where he has developed his public speaking skills and met with the garrison commander at Ft. Drum. His participation in youth leadership forums led to his selection as Ft. Drum’s teen ambassador to the Youth Leadership Forum in San Antonio. Bell also serves as the vice president of the Keystone Club, another service club with a focus on serving in community centers and reading books to children.
At home, Bell is a big help to his family. While his mother was on a 16-month deployment, he helped his father with cooking meals and taking care of his siblings.
“We all are really proud of Antonio’s hard work and big heart. He brings so much to the Ft. Drum community. We all wish him the best of luck at the Boys & Girls Club New York State Youth of the Year event,” Blankenbush concluded.
