Assemblyman Zebrowski: Bipartisan State Budget Agreement Reached

Joint Legislative Conference Committees are on track to close $10 billion deficit on time

“The Assembly, Senate and governor reached a bipartisan agreement on a final state budget. Joint Legislative Conference Committees are expected to conclude their work and bills are expected to be voted on this week before the April 1 budget deadline.

Very difficult choices had to be made to close a $10 billion deficit. We worked with Governor Cuomo to ensure that the state’s fiscal burden did not fall disproportionately on working families. We made restorations to EPIC and restored some of the proposed cuts to school districts. In addition, recognizing the state’s slow return to economic stability, the final budget will include the governor’s economic development initiatives, which will foster job creation across New York.

New Yorkers deserve a fair, on-time budget. Although, finding ways to close a looming budget deficit was daunting, we were able to craft a bipartisan, fiscally responsible budget agreement that cuts spending while protecting our most vulnerable residents.”
