Assemblywoman Jean-Pierre Receives Committee Assignments
Assemblywoman Kimberly Jean-Pierre (D-Babylon) announced her appointment to the Economic Development, Transportation, Local Governments, Mental Health, and the Banks Committees.
“I am honored to be entrusted to serve on the committees as a newly elected member,” said Assemblywoman Jean-Pierre. “Serving on these vital committees will aid in my pledge to be a strong voice in Albany, and I look forward to discussing real, tangible solutions that will move New York and Suffolk County forward.”
Assemblywoman Jean-Pierre’s assignment to the Economic Development Committee aligns with her commitment to create jobs and attract business so that families can continue to call Babylon their home. In hopes of creating a better business environment, she recently sponsored a bill that would repeal the repetitive annual employee notification requirement, an act that can save businesses millions of dollars throughout the state (A.1267).
“Long Islanders are facing many challenges as we continue to recover from the economic downturn. As a new member of the Economic Development Committee, I am excited to work on initiatives that will create jobs, lower property taxes and keep younger generations right here in Babylon.”
Assignments to both the Transportation and Local Governments committees will further provide opportunities for local economic development and will ensure Suffolk families are being given the attention they need and deserve. Due to the lack of accessible public transportation on Long Island, Assemblywoman Kimberly Jean-Pierre hopes to bring much needed aid from the state to Suffolk County and establish better transportation routes for families in Babylon.
