Assemblywoman Jean-Pierre Backs Plan to Delay Teacher Evaluation System Until 2016
“Over the last several weeks, I have listened to the concerns of schools all across my district. I agree with Chancellor Tisch and support her plan to push the teacher evaluation deadline back from November 2015 to September 2016, During the budget process, my colleagues and I fought to take the teacher evaluation system out of the hands of the governor and put it into the hands of the highly qualified and nonpartisan Board of Regents.
“This delay will give our schools enough time to implement the new teacher evaluation system without having to risk essential funding. I will continue to stand with teachers and fight for fair and effective policies, and I will keep working to make sure our schools have the resources they need in order to give our children the best education possible.”
