Assemblywoman Jean-Pierre Recognizes National Library Week
Assemblywoman Kimberly Jean-Pierre (D-Babylon) announced that April 9-15 is National Library Week and is encouraging residents to take advantage of all Long Island libraries have to offer.
“Our libraries are at the core of our communities,” Jean-Pierre said. “Whether it’s borrowing books, listening to stories read aloud, using technology or attending workshops, the library has something to offer for everyone. Let’s make time this week to visit our libraries and thank the library staff for all they do.”
Jean-Pierre knows that libraries are a vital neighborhood asset in Suffolk County and passed a budget that restores aid to public libraries by $4 million for a total of $95.6 million. This will ensure they can continue to provide services and resources to residents. In addition, the budget provides an increase of $10 million in capital funding for a total of $24 million.
Jean-Pierre marked the occasion by co-sponsoring a resolution that recognizes April 9-15 as National Library Week in the State of New York, which the Assembly adopted.
