Assemblywoman Jean-Pierre, Red Cross Partner to Install Smoke Alarms across 11th District

New York State Assemblywoman Kimberly Jean-Pierre (D-Wheatley Heights) recently partnered with the American Red Cross to install free smoke alarms for residents throughout the 11th Assembly District. The installation event was part of the Red Cross’ Sound the Alarm campaign, which raises awareness about home fire safety and upcoming smoke alarm installations.

“I would like to thank the American Red Cross for their partnership in this important initiative that will help keep Long Islanders safe,” said Jean-Pierre. “The safety of my constituents is one of my top priorities, and ensuring that our residents have up-to-date, quality smoke alarms and fire evacuation plans in place will undoubtedly help us save lives and prevent future tragedies.”

Smoke alarms were installed by volunteers from the American Red Cross and PSEG Long Island in more than 30 homes throughout the Town of Babylon area. The American Red Cross will be back on Long Island installing more free smoke alarms on May 4th and May 10th; if you are interested in scheduling an appointment, please call 516-229-1086 or visit SoundTheAlarm.org/li.
