Assemblywoman Jean-Pierre Hosts Online Emergency Preparedness Presentation
Assemblywoman Kimberly Jean-Pierre (D-Wheatley Heights) hosted a virtual emergency preparedness presentation in partnership with the Red Cross on Tuesday. Long Island residents learned about how to respond during crises ranging from local emergencies to large-scale disasters.
An emergency can strike at any time and being prepared for these situations can help save lives, Jean-Pierre said. Long Island families have witnessed the impact that severe weather events and other emergencies can have on our communities. Preparing for emergencies ensures you have essential supplies on-hand and a plan to keep loved ones safe. I want to thank the Red Cross on Long Island for offering this informative presentation.
Jean-Pierre co-hosted the online presentation Tuesday afternoon with Neela Mukherjee Lockel, CEO of the American Red Cross on Long Island. Attendees learned about what to do in the event of an emergency, including house fires, hurricanes or flooding, and how to make an emergency plan, assemble a disaster kit and who to contact when emergencies strike their home or community. Residents also learned how to connect with appropriate organizations, such as the Red Cross, to help with the recovery process.
