Assemblymember Rosenthal to Host Medicare Open Enrollment Information Session at JASA
New York, NY – Assemblymember Linda Rosenthal will be hosting a free informational seminar on the open enrollment period for Medicare and several Medicare Savings Programs on Tuesday, November 17, 2009. The forum will be held at JASA at 120 West 76th Street from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm. Representatives from the Medicare Rights Center will be on hand to present information and answer questions.
November and December is an important time for people with Medicare. From November 15 to December 31, people with Medicare can change prescription drug and health plan coverage without restriction.
“It is so important for seniors to understand the programs that are available to help them with prescription drug costs and Medicare,” Rosenthal stated. “These programs can be confusing and complicated. I encourage anyone who currently has Medicare, or is about to enroll, to attend on November 17 to learn more and speak with a representative from the Medicare Rights Center.”
Speakers from the Medicare Rights Center will explain Medicare Part B premiums, coinsurance and deductibles. They will also explain how to receive Extra Help, the federal government program that helps pay for Part D prescription drug premiums and co-payments. In addition, those attending can find out more about the prescription drug assistance that is available through New York State’s Elderly Pharmaceutical Insurance Coverage (EPIC) program.
