Walsh Responds to The Arrest of Lt. Gov. Brian Benjamin
Statement from Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh (R,C-Ballston) following arrest of Lt. Gov. Benjamin in campaign fraud case
“In the wake of former Gov. Cuomo’s resignation, Gov. Hochul pledged to restore faith in our state government and rid Albany of rampant corruption. In just the last week, she has failed to live up to these promises, in fact only worsening the tattered image of our state government.
“The budget was one of the most secretive and non-transparent processes in recent memory. On the heels of this, earlier this morning we learned of the arrest of Lt. Gov. Brian Benjamin in a campaign fraud case. Unchecked single-party rule continues to plague our state and only provide embarrassment for New York taxpayers.
“Gov. Hochul can go back to her day-one promise of cleaning up Albany by asking her now-arrested lieutenant governor to resign, effective immediately.”
