Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh (R,C-Ballston) was pleased to hear today from the Board of Fire Commissioners that Glenville Hill Fire District No. 8 was awarded the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response grant from FEMA. The fire district’s application, which was submitted on January 31, 2022, was backed by a letter of support from Walsh.

The Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER – FY2021) grant to fund Glenville Hill Fire District No. 8 projects was awarded in the amount of $190,580.54. This money will be used to enhance the department’s recruitment and retention efforts over the next three years.

“I'm very happy that our efforts to help this great local fire district came to fruition. Local fire departments and emergency services need adequate funding to hire effective personnel, train their personnel and give them the proper resources to respond to crises in the community. Although Glenville Hill is already an incredible asset to the Town of Glenville, this well-deserved grant will allow Glenville Hill and its volunteers to continue and expand on their exceptional work,” Walsh said.

“The SAFER grant will also provide our courageous first responders with the tools necessary to keep both themselves and the community safe. Please join me in congratulating Glenville Hill Fire District No. 8 on their award from FEMA, and in thanking them for all the hard work they do every day to keep residents protected,” Walsh concluded.
