Walsh Hosts Fifth Annual Blood Drive Event with American Red Cross
Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh (R,C-Ballston) partnered with the Red Cross yesterday, Dec. 2, for her fifth annual blood drive at the Ballston Spa Elks Lodge. Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood for surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses or traumatic injuries. Life-saving care starts with one person making a generous donation, and Assemblywoman Walsh is dedicated to making a positive impact on our community’s well-being.
“The need for life-saving blood never fades, which is why I remain committed to organizing blood drives as often as possible. I’m deeply grateful to everyone who participates, whether it’s their first time or they’re a regular donor. Your selfless act of donating blood can give someone the gift of years to come.”
“These events succeed because our community truly cares for one another. A heartfelt thank you to our generous donors, my colleagues in Ballston Spa for their support, the Red Cross and the Ballston Spa Elks Lodge for providing a welcoming venue. This year, we collected 29 units of blood—24 whole blood and 5 power red units—potentially saving up to 87 lives,” said Walsh.
“If you couldn’t make it this time, it’s never too late to donate and make a difference. Look out for future blood drives hosted by my office, or visit their Web site to find blood donation locations near you through the American Red Cross.”
