Walsh Officially Joins New York State Legislature
Today, Assemblywoman-Elect Mary Beth Walsh (R,C,I,Ref–Ballston) was sworn in as a member of the New York State Legislature. Walsh was elected to an open Assembly seat on November 8, 2016 and will represent parts of Saratoga and Schenectady counties, including the towns of Glenville, Providence, Greenfield, Galway, Milton, Charlton, Ballston, Clifton Park and Halfmoon.
The swearing-in ceremony, administered by Hon. Ann C. Crowell, Supreme Court Justice for the Fourth Judicial District, was held this afternoon at the Legislative Office Building in Albany.
“I am energized and ready to begin my first term in Albany, and I’m thankful to all those who helped get me here,” said Walsh. “I am committed to doing all I can to bring about necessary change in Albany, while also keeping the issues that matter most to upstate families and business owners at the forefront of my priorities.”
“I look forward to working with my colleagues, at the state and local levels, to take meaningful steps forward for the residents of the 112th Assembly District and all New Yorkers.”
Walsh, an experienced family law attorney and longtime advocate for local children and families, was appointed as Ranking Minority Member of the Children & Families Committee. Additionally, she will serve as Ranking Minority Member of the Libraries & Education Technology Committee, and as a member on the Aging, Education and Mental Health Committees.
Previously, Walsh served as a Councilwoman in the Town of Ballston, and has been an active member of regional committees including the Saratoga County IDA, Saratoga County Ethics Advisory Council and Saratoga County Autism Council.
Walsh, a mother of six in a blended family, lives with her husband Jim in Saratoga County.
