Ballston to Receive $11 Million for Drinking and Waste Water Improvements
Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh (R,C,I,Ref-Ballston) joined Sen. Jim Tedisco (R,C,I,Ref-Glenville) and Town of Ballston Town Supervisor Tim Szczepaniak to applaud today’s announcement that the Town of Ballston will receive $11 million for costs associated with the construction of a wastewater collection system. The $11 million will be split into a New York State Water Grant ($2.6 million) and a low-and interest-free loan ($8.4 million).
“I am thrilled with today’s announcement and congratulate those in the Ballston community who have worked tirelessly to obtain these funds,” said Walsh. “This process has been in the works for years, and as a former town board member, I know how important grant money is to small communities across this state. Ensuring our community receives its fair share of infrastructure funding is a priority of mine, and I plan to build off the great news today.”
“I’m happy that myself and Assemblywoman Walsh were able to help advocate for this vital underground infrastructure grant funding for the Town of Ballston. Moving forward we need a dedicated funding program to allow local governments to swap-out deteriorating drinking water, storm water, gas lines, sanitary sewer, and dams and water tower infrastructure to protect the safety of our water supply and save tax dollars later as I advocate for in my Safe Water infrastructure Action Program (S.W.A.P.),” said Senator Jim Tedisco (R,C,I,REF-Glenville).
The governor’s announcement outlined the projects designated for the funds, including: the planning, design and construction of a Wastewater Collection System and individual grinder pumps, replacing onsite septic systems located along Ballston Lake, and a new pump station to assist water flow to the Saratoga County interceptor sewer.
“I want to thank all the employees of the Town of Ballston and the Ballston Sewer Committee who worked diligently to apply for the grants we were awarded today,” said Szczepaniak. “The process can be daunting at times, but today it’s all paid off. I look forward to beginning the construction process and completing these projects in a timely manner.”
