Walsh Participates In ‘Girls at The Capitol’ Day
On Tuesday, Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh (R,C,I,Ref-Ballston) participated in this year’s ‘Girls at the Capitol’ event, welcoming Girl Scout and Maple Hill freshman Samantha Siciliano to shadow her for the day in Albany. Organized by the Young Women’s Leadership Initiative, ‘Girls at the Capitol’ offers motivated young women the opportunity to see state government in action on the floor of the Assembly and Senate, as well as attend the day’s meetings and press conferences alongside female legislators.
Samantha took full advantage of the opportunity to experience a day at the Capitol, sitting in on Assemblywoman Walsh’s Mental Health and Aging Committee meetings, as well as multiple appointments with health organization advocacy groups and the afternoon’s legislative session.
“Samantha certainly chose a busy day to visit us at the Capitol, and it was an absolute pleasure spending the day getting to know such an ambitious, intelligent and inquisitive young woman,” said Walsh. “As a former girl scout, I am thrilled to see the organization partnering with the Young Women’s Leadership Initiative to provide memorable experiences that promise to motivate future generations of strong, driven women, regardless of the career paths they choose.”
