“It is fitting that the final day of my first legislative session should fall on the summer solstice, as the past week has been excruciatingly long here in Albany for all the wrong reasons.

“The flurry of activity this week has certainly resulted in a number of substantial local victories, however I cannot help but find myself frustrated at the manner in which these negotiations have taken place.

“Over the past three days, we have rushed votes on hundreds of one-house, hyper-local issues, while a concerning number of corrupt and misguided practices that my colleagues and I have pushed to amend over the past six months, notably bid rigging, rising property taxes and the need for term limits, have been completely ignored by the Assembly Majority.

“Although our time in the capitol this year has come to an end, I pledge to remain committed to not only protecting the best interests of my constituents, but also working towards the ethical, accountable and transparent state government New Yorkers deserve.”
