Walsh Hosts Prescription Drug Give-Back Event In Burnt Hills
On Saturday, Sept. 16, Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh (R,C,I,Ref-Ballston) held a Prescription Drug Take-Back Event at Morris Ford in Burnt Hills, the first in a series of events the freshman legislator hopes will support ongoing local efforts to fight substance abuse. Organized in partnership with the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department and Town of Ballston Supervisor Tim Szczepaniak, the well-attended event offered residents the opportunity to safely dispose of old and unneeded prescription medication, ensuring these drugs do not end up in the wrong hands or pollute groundwater.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Town of Ballston Supervisor Tim Szczepaniak, as well as Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo and his team for their help in making Saturday’s Drug Take-Back Event such a success,” said Walsh. “Attendees were genuinely relieved to have this convenient opportunity to throw away expired and unwanted medication, and by the end of the day we had four full boxes of drugs that could have very easily fallen into the wrong hands otherwise. I look forward to continuing to fight substance abuse in our community and invite anyone interested in joining us in these efforts to join us at one of our upcoming events.”
Assemblywoman Walsh’s substance abuse awareness events continue with a community forum regarding the heroin and opioid epidemic on Wednesday, Oct. 11 from 7pm to 9pm at the Burnt Hills High School.
