Walsh To Host Community Forum On Heroin And Opioid Addiction
Event will bring together local stakeholders for productive conversation on sensitive issue
On Wednesday, October 11, Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh (R,C,I,Ref-Ballston) will host a Heroin and Opioid Addiction Informational Forum, bringing together multiple local officials and organizations to discuss what many believe to be one of the biggest problems facing our community. The event, which will take place at the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School Auditorium from 7 – 9 p.m., is free and open to the public, and is certain to provide an educational and productive dialogue surrounding this pervasive issue.
The forum will feature several participants, including Saratoga County Director of Community Services Dr. Michael Prezioso, Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Parent University and Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the DEA David T. Zon, along with local treatment and addiction specialists and community members who have been affected by opioid abuse. Each will offer their differing insights on the heroin and opioid epidemic, providing attendees with an educational opportunity to learn about the risks these drugs pose to our community, the signs of addiction and the available resources to help overcome abuse.
“Fighting the heroin and opioid epidemic is and will continue to be one of my top priorities as a member of the state Assembly, and next Wednesday’s event will offer those in attendance the chance to learn about this issue from our expert panel, as well as engage in an honest and open community discussion,” said Walsh. “I urge anyone who is interested in attending to join us for what promises to be an eye-opening and informative evening.”
This forum is free and open to the public, and will be immediately followed by a community discussion and Narcan training demonstration. For more information on this event, please contact the office of Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh at (518) 884-8010.
