Walsh Recognizes Achievements of Local Student Athletes

Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh (R,C,I,Ref-Ballston) welcomed a group of local student athletes from the Scotia-Glenville/Burnt Hills Ballston Lake Swim Team and Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School for a special visit to the state Capitol to recognize their respective state championships on Tuesday, January 30. Joining Walsh for the occasion were Olivia Jack, recent state champion in the girls 100-yard breaststroke, and the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Boys Varsity Cross Country team, who took home the NYS Federation Cross Country Team state championship in 2017.
The athletes were introduced by Assemblyman Andy Goodell on the floor of the state Assembly during Tuesday morning’s legislative session, where both achievements were honored with official resolutions. Prior to receiving these commemorative honors, the visitors were also introduced on the floor of the state Senate by Sen. Jim Tedisco.
“On behalf of the state legislature, I’d like to offer my congratulations to both Olivia Jack, and the Burnt Hills Ballston Lake Boys Varsity Cross Country Team for their hard work and well-deserved state championship victories,” said Walsh. “This accomplishment is a testament to not only your talent, but the commitment and dedication you have shown in your pursuit of excellence, and I urge you all to take those lessons with you as you continue forward with your athletic and academic endeavors.”
