Walsh Honors American Legion’s First Female National Commander
Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh (R,C,I.Ref-Ballston) attended a special event honoring American Legion National Commander Denise Rohan at the Saratoga Springs Holiday Inn on Thursday, April 12. Rohan, an Army Veteran and former American Legion Post Commander, has played a crucial role with the organization since 1984 and has championed several “family first” initiatives since her election as the American Legion’s first female national commander in 2017. The afternoon’s event served as an opportunity to commemorate Rohan’s accomplishments, as well as a precursor to the evening’s National Commander’s Ball.
“In her many years of dedicated service to her country, community and the American Legion, National Commander Denise Rohan has demonstrated a commitment, passion and vision that promises to usher in a new era of success for this great organization and the heroes it serves,” said Walsh. “As the American Legion’s first female national commander, Denise has shown us all what can be accomplished through hard work, dedication and perseverance, and I wish her many years of continued success in this well deserved role.”
