A statement from Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh (R,C,I,Ref-Ballston)
May 18, 2018
“Following the recent school budget vote, seven of our local school districts throughout Saratoga County have committed to having trained school resource officers on campus. This news represents a major step forward in our efforts to ensure our children’s safety. The adoption of this initiative will allow districts to hire officers that best suit their specific needs, and promises to pay major dividends, not only in the event of an emergency, but in fostering a positive relationship between students and law enforcement, and in the fight against substance abuse. I applaud Sheriff Zurlo and his team for listening to the concerns of students, parents and school officials in our communities, and for taking action to address them.”
