Today, Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh (R,C,I-Ballston) was sworn in for her third term as assemblywoman for the 112th Assembly District by her husband, Supreme Court Justice James Walsh. For the 2021 Legislative Session, Walsh will be returning as Assistant Minority Leader Pro Tempore and a member of the Assembly Committees on Education, Judiciary, Mental Health and Libraries and Education Technology.

“I am energized to be returning for my third term serving the people of the 112th Assembly District. I can think of no better honor than to be your voice in our state government. I know 2021 will undoubtedly be another difficult year for us, but I'm ready to get to work for you and take on the challenges ahead of us,” said Walsh.

“I'm happy to be returning as Assistant Minority Leader Pro Tempore for the Minority Conference and look forward to leading debates on behalf of our conference and all residents across the state. It's so important that issues and concerns are vigorously defended on both sides of the aisle, and it's an honor to be a voice in these debates.

“As our state grapples with the looming state budget deficit, I will stand up for you, the taxpayers, when raising taxes is presented as the only answer by my counterparts. I'll fight to preserve your individual freedoms at a time when the Majority refuses to take up our conference's bill to restore a balance of powers among our state government. I will work across the aisle to bring COVID-19 relief to families wondering how they're going to pay for their children's next meal and for businesses struggling to keep their doors open.
