Walsh Hosts Fourth Annual ThinkDIFFERENTLY Day at Saratoga County Fair
Sensory-sensitive initiative focused on supporting those with special needs in the community
Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh (R,C,I-Ballston) and the Saratoga County Fair Board hosted their fourth annual ThinkDIFFERENTLY Day for those living with disabilities and their families. This special event offers attendees with special needs the opportunity to enjoy a sensory-sensitive morning of fun.
In celebration of ThinkDIFFERENTLY Day, the Saratoga County Fair carnival rides opened early for a sensory-sensitive morning with no flashing lights or loud noises. In addition, the Animal Shows and 4-H Snack Bar and the Brickyard Grill all opened early to allow attendees the chance to enjoy a full morning of fun at the fairgrounds.
“After having to hold last year’s ThinkDIFFERENTLY day virtually, it is such a wonderful feeling to see everyone here today. After the tumultuous year we’ve all had, this year’s event feels more special than ever,” said Walsh. “It truly is such an honor to play a role in hosting the ThinkDIFFERENTLY event here in Saratoga. Thank you to the Saratoga County Fair and everyone who played a role in making this year’s event possible.”
"On behalf of the Saratoga County Agricultural Society and Saratoga County Fair, I’d like to say we were enthusiastic to once again have been a part of ThinkDifferently Day. As a not-for-profit organization, we were excited to have hosted a live event after a long shut-down due to COVID-19. We were pleased to witness those living with disabilities being able to enjoy sensory-sensitive time with their families at the Saratoga County Fairgrounds. It was our sincere pleasure to again have worked with Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh and her staff for the fourth year of this special annual event and we look forward to doing it again in 2022," said Tammy M. Ballestero, President, Saratoga County Agricultural Society & Saratoga County Fair.
