Statement from Assemblyman Matt Slater (R,C-Yorktown) on Eighth Budget Extender

“Yesterday, we passed the eighth budget extender, and Albany still hasn’t delivered a real budget for the people of New York. This is not governing, it’s dysfunction. Families, schools and local governments are left in limbo while backroom negotiations drag on. New Yorkers deserve a transparent, on-time budget that addresses affordability and public safety, not more delays and excuses.

“That’s why I’m pushing for real solutions—like A.2498, which expands the Earned Income Tax Credit to put more money back in the pockets of working families; A.1270, which brings transparency to energy costs by requiring utilities to alert you when rates spike and connect you with available assistance; and A.9312, the Medicaid Network Access Protection Act, which ensures Medicaid dollars deliver real access to care by increasing transparency and protecting patients when providers leave the network.”
