Assemblyman Michael Durso (R-Massapequa Park) joined the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary Post 1738 in West Islip in congratulating Kayla and Samantha Miller on their recent trip to New York Girls State. Each year American Legion Auxiliaries around New York sponsor girls to attend this non-partisan political experience to learn about local and state government practices and running a mock government.

Participants are selected to attend Girls State based on academic criteria along with being interested in government affairs and demonstrate strong leadership abilities.
