New York State Assemblyman Michael Durso in partnership with Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman and Village of Massapequa Park Mayor Dan Pearl recently hosted a Free Naloxone (Narcan) Training at Massapequa Park Village Hall.

The training was provided by Calle Panakos, Coordinator of Education & Training at Nassau County Office of Mental Health, Chemical Dependency and Developmental Disabilities Services. The program educated participants of overdose risk factors, recognizing and responding to an overdose, and administration of Naloxone (Narcan), the lifesaving antidote that can reverse the fatal effects of an Opioid overdose and save a person's life.

“Narcan training programs are an essential part of our effort to combat the increase in fentanyl and opioid overdoses and deaths that are plaguing communities throughout Long Island and New York State,” said Durso. “I want to thank all the residents for attending this life-saving training. And a special thank you to Calle Panakos for providing our communities with this vital service.”
