NYS Assemblyman Durso Joined Local Leaders to Announce the Launch of the Blue Alert System to Apprehend Dangerous Criminals
New York State Assemblyman Michael Durso (R-Massapequa Park) recently joined New York State Assemblyman Steve Stern and other local elected officials to announce the implementation of the Blue Alert System to assist in the apprehension of individuals suspected of killing or seriously wounding a law enforcement officer.
Likened to the Amber Alert for missing children and the Silver Alert for missing vulnerable adults, the Blue Alert System sends out a notification to the public making them aware of crimes against officers and asking for any information they may have on the incident.
“Crime is skyrocketing across New York State, and violent attacks on police officers are ever increasing. As a co-sponsor of the Blue Alert bill, I was proud to stand with the bill’s sponsor, Assemblyman Stern, and my colleagues from both sides the aisle in support of our state, local and village law enforcement,” said Durso. “Our number one priority is the safety and well-being of our communities and the men and women in blue who protect them!”
