Assemblyman Durso to Host a Shed The Meds in West Islip

New York State Assemblyman Michael Durso will be hosting a free Shed The Meds drop-off event, in coordination with the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office, on Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the West Islip Public Library.
Residents looking to get rid of unwanted or expired medications are invited to drop them off at the library for proper disposal by the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office.
- All medications should be kept in their original containers or placed in a ziplock bag.
- Accepted items include prescription medication, prescription patches, over the counter medications, and vitamins.
- Items NOT accepted include needles, sharps, or liquid medications.
“Proper disposal of medication is crucial to protecting our environment and keeping them away from children and others who may abuse them,” said Assemblyman Durso. “Our Shed The Meds event is a great opportunity to clear out your cabinets of old, unused or unwanted medicine and get rid of them safely.”
