“We must keep only two things on the agenda right now: responding to the coronavirus and passing a budget focused on meeting the state’s fiscal obligations to keep the government operational. It has been the case in the past that the governor and the Democratic leaders of the Assembly and the Senate have placed non-fiscal policy in the budget to force the hands of legislators to pass their agenda. Broad policy proposals have no place in the budget, and instead should be brought to the floor of the Legislature and debated individually. Any effort to insert policy where it does not belong must be rejected.”

Two members of Assembly from New York City have tested positive for COVID-19. They will not be able to participate in session this week.
