Norris Invites Local Students To Participate In Summer Internships

***Notice Of Internship Opportunity***

Assemblyman Mike Norris (R,I-Lockport) is opening his district office for summer internships for local high school or college students. Students may be eligible to receive course credit for their internship, which will include a mixture of office work and community event attendance.

“Growing up, I loved having the opportunity to gain real-life, practical experience through internships, and I hope students in Western New York will consider joining my team for the summer to gain hands-on experience,” said Norris. “Every day my staff works very hard, but no two days are the same. The internship will reflect this. Students will enjoy the chance to get to know their community better.”

To apply, interested students should email a letter of interest and resume to Norris’ office at norrism@nyassembly.gov. The ideal candidate would have a positive attitude, strong work ethic and an interest in government, political science, public or community service or event planning. Candidates should be sure to highlight specific skills such as writing, photography or videography, research skills and any experience working with community organizations. Internships can start immediately to accommodate students’ academic calendars and hours can be tailored around other summer employment or obligations. For any questions, please feel free to email or call the assemblyman’s office at (716) 839-4691.

Norris also encourages college or graduate students to consider applying for the Assembly’s Legislative Internship Program, which partners students with individual lawmakers in their offices at the state Capitol while the Assembly is in session during spring semesters.
