Assemblyman Mike Tannousis (R,C-Staten Island/Brooklyn) has been appointed the ranking Minority member of the Judiciary Committee for the New York State Assembly for the incoming legislative year. Tannousis previously served as the ranking Minority member of the Aging Committee during his first term in the Assembly. In addition to the Judiciary Committee, he also serves on the Codes, Government Employees, and Cities committees. Tannousis led the Minority Delegation as a ranking Minority member of the Judiciary Committee during last week's hearing to review the qualifications of Assemblyman-elect Lester Chang. 

Prior to the Assembly, Tannousis served as an assistant district attorney in the Bronx District County District Attorney’s Office and Richmond County District Attorney’s Office where he prosecuted major felony offenses, including homicides.

“It is an honor to be appointed as the ranking member of the Judiciary Committee for this coming legislative calendar. As someone who has served as a prosecutor and has practiced law for several years, I understand the importance of this role and look forward to leading the Minority delegation in the Judiciary Committee during this upcoming session,” said Tannousis. “As always, I will serve as a tireless advocate for the constituents of the 64th Assembly District and the residents of New York.”
