Today, Assemblymember Monica Wallace (D-Lancaster) announced that she secured $30,000 for the Depew-Lancaster Boys & Girls Club to purchase several games to enhance programming for local kids. Thanks to the funding, the club was able to bring classic arcade-style sports games, including Skee-Ball, bubble hockey, bubble soccer, arcade basketball, an interactive whiteboard, claw machine, and Xbox, to its Depew location.

“With the start of summer break, we want to make sure that our Boys & Girls Clubs have excellent amenities and programs,” said Assemblymember Wallace. “These clubs offer kids a safe environment to socialize, make friends, and stay out of trouble, as well as provide parents with affordable childcare. I’m glad to have secured funding to make these clubs more attractive and enjoyable.”

“These classic games will enhance the experience at our club, expand our offerings for kids, and help develop their fine motor skills,” said Jeff Kupka, director of the Depew-Lancaster Boys & Girls Club. “We thank Assemblymember Wallace for her continued commitment to supporting and expanding our Boys & Girls Club and for being a champion of youth recreation programs throughout our community and state.”

Assemblymember Wallace is a strong supporter of Boys & Girls Clubs and programs for youth. She secured a critical allocation of $100,000 to open the first Cheektowaga Boys & Girls Club and another $250,000 to make accessibility and security upgrades to the club’s facilities. In addition, she has secured $25,000 for Cheektowaga Youth & Recreation to expand its programs, $25,000 for Cheektowaga Youth Baseball and Softball to purchase equipment, and $15,000 for the Lancaster Public Library to remain open on Sundays during this past school year. She also passed amendments to the state’s mobile sports betting program to allocate $5 million annually in betting revenue to sports programs for underserved youth.
