Assemblymember Monica Wallace (D-Lancaster) recently announced that she has secured $50,000 for the Town of Cheektowaga for community programs and youth services. The state funding will support popular community events like the Town’s July 4 celebration, the Cheektowaga Polish American Arts Festival, and the Youth Engaged in Service program. Y.E.S. is a volunteer program for youth in grades six through 12 to give back to their community through activities, such as cooking meals at the Grace Guest House, leading games at seasonal holiday events, and making crafts with children in libraries.

“The Town of Cheektowaga’s community events bring residents together and celebrate our heritage, while the Y.E.S. program gives young people an opportunity to give back to their community, appreciate the importance of public service, and better themselves,” said Assemblymember Wallace. “I’m glad to have secured funding for Cheektowaga to continue to hold these popular events and offer programs to support youth in our community.”

Throughout her time in office, Assemblymember Wallace has prioritized securing resources for community events and youth programming. In 2022, Assemblymember Wallace secured $50,000 for the Town of Cheektowaga for community events and its Conservation Corp. and another $10,000 for the General Pulaski Association to hold its annual parade and festival in downtown Buffalo to honor the famed Polish cavalry officer. She has also secured $25,000 for Cheektowaga Youth & Recreation programs and $100,000 in seed funding for the Cheektowaga Boys & Girls Club, which opened its doors in September 2021.
